Position Overview

The Grade-Level Teacher (K–5) is responsible for leading a homeroom of 16 students at St. Andrew’s School. This is a full-time position starting at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year. 

The successful candidate will create a nurturing, engaging, and academically rigorous classroom environment that reflects St. Andrew’s whole-child approach, emphasizing academic excellence, social-emotional learning, family partnership, and community connection.

The CDO leads a small advancement team and carries responsibility for all fundraising

Essential Functions

Reporting directly to the Head of School and serving as a member of the senior leadership
team, the Chief Development Officer will lead all aspects of the school’s development
strategy, including annual giving, major gifts, donor stewardship, campaign planning, board
engagement, institutional partnerships, and long-term fundraising strategy. The ability to
lead collaboratively, build trust across the leadership team, and guide fundraising activity at
the executive level is essential.
Strategy, Board and Leadership
● As a member of the Leadership Team, partner closely with senior staff and the
Development Board Committee to lead the creation, implementation, and evaluation
of a comprehensive annual advancement plan that enables sustainable short- and
long-term philanthropic growth. This targeted advancement plan and calendar will
provide concrete metrics and goals for fundraising, outlining regularly scheduled
donor communication and opportunities for cultivation and stewardship.
● Attend board meetings and board committee meetings and report on development
activities as needed, in coordination with the Head of School.
● Serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization and articulate the
school’s mission to external constituents.
● In partnership with the Head of School, educate, energize, and train board members
and senior staff in donor cultivation and professional fundraising techniques and best
practices.
● Collaborate with members of the business office to develop and produce regular
reports that synthesize the financial progress, impact, and trends of fundraising
activities.
● Partner with the Head of School and Board members, as appropriate, on solicitation
visits.
Fundraising
● Oversee and effectively manage areas including (but not limited to) annual fund,
capital fundraising, campaign fundraising, grant writing and reporting, volunteer
management, gift processing, donor database management, special events, and
marketing efforts tied to fundraising activities, as appropriate.

● Lead efforts to achieve and grow the current fundraising budget of $1.9 million
annually, increasing revenue year-over-year through individuals, foundations, and
corporate funding.
● Identify and implement new revenue streams, with a focus on increasing sustainable
unrestricted revenue.
● Lead the creation and growth of a new framework for individual giving to include
planned giving.
Internal Management and Infrastructure
● Manage departmental resources (human and financial) in a way that efficiently
produces optimal results and achieves stated financial objectives for revenue and
expense management.
● Ensure that accurate and thorough records are maintained, including timely gift
processing, donor records, mailing lists, contact and call reports, giving history,
biographical data, etc.
● Manage and mentor a small advancement team, with the opportunity to shape and
grow the department over time.
● Effectively manage the development department’s day-to-day operations, budget
and income forecasts.
● Inform and provide oversight to all donor materials to ensure consistent messaging
and branding of donor and external stakeholder communications.
● Partner with the business office to sustain efficient, effective and transparent
financial tracking and reporting processes.
● Develop clear processes and collaborate within the organization to create an
understanding of and appreciation for the impact of the advancement function.

This role sits at the intersection of teaching and program management: the Manager of Performing Arts both leads music instruction for all K–5 students and takes ownership of the strategic direction, community partnerships, and operational health of the school’s arts program.

Functional Responsibilities

The Long-Term Substitute Teacher supports the St. Andrew’s instructional team by maintaining classroom routines and delivering instruction during a faculty member’s extended absence. The Part-Time Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions of St. Andrew’s School. The bookkeeper works under the direct supervision of the Operations Officer and in close coordination with the school’s fractional CFO, Head of School, Chief Development Officer, and board members as appropriate. Compensation is structured as a fixed annualized salary. The school anticipates an average of approximately 10-15 hours per week to complete required responsibilities, though a highly proficient candidate may complete the work in fewer hours. This structure rewards efficiency and expertise. This is a hybrid role and schedule will be determined based on the school’s accounting cycles and operational needs.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely general ledger entries and account coding in QuickBooks Online
  • Manage QuickBooks bank feeds; match, categorize, and post transactions accurately for multiple accounts
  • Oversee all accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense coding
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoice preparation, posting receipts, tracking outstanding balances, and following up as appropriate
  • Process cash receipts and prepare bank deposits
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Complete bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Record and reconcile payroll and benefits transactions following each payroll cycle
  • Maintain vendor records, including W-9 collection, and annual 1099 filing
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and financial dashboards for internal use
  • Support fixed asset tracking and maintain related records
  • Track restricted and unrestricted funds in coordination with the fractional CFO
  • Support grant financial reporting and donor-restricted fund tracking in coordination with the development team
  • Assist with annual audit preparation and provide documentation as requested
  • Support 990 preparation in coordination with the fractional CFO and external accountant
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget as needed
  • Ensure procurement compliance with VDOE and Child Nutrition program requirements
  • Prepare student nutrition financial reports as required by state and federal programs
  • Coordinate with the Chief Development Officer on development-finance matters, including gift entry reconciliation and fund reporting

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of proven bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of QuickBooks Online required, including extensive experience with bank feeds, transaction matching, categorization, and reconciliation
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and meet recurring deadlines

In a school where every child receives a full scholarship and every family is treated as a partner, the front desk is more than an administrative post — it is where relationships begin. This role is central to the daily rhythm of school life, ensuring that visitors, families, and students are received with warmth and care, and that front-of-house operations support a safe, orderly, and inclusive environment.

Position Overview

This is a year-round, part-time position. During the academic year, hours are approximately 30 per week, aligned with school hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During summer months, the schedule shifts to a reduced week, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, reflecting the school’s summer calendar. Compensation is salaried and consistent year-round.
