Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Pratiik Kaushik recently celebrated his 1-year anniversary volunteering at St. Andrew’s School. Pratiik is a sophomore student at VCU, where he is pre-med and part of the “Guaranteed Acceptance into Medical School” program.
Pratiik has been volunteering on Tuesdays this year, spending time with two pairs of lunch buddies and also helping with administrative tasks in the office. He says that what he loves most about his time at SAS is “the kids.” Being with them “awakens the child within him,” and he recognizes that he learns from the kids just as they learn from him. With no younger siblings of his own and no other opportunities for him to be around kids, Pratiik looks forward to his weekly visits at SAS.
Outside of St. Andrew’s School, Pratiik enjoys cooking and playing Quidditch (yes, the game from the Harry Potter series). He is part of the VCU Quidditch Club and describes the game as a combination of rugby and dodge ball. Pratiik also enjoys hanging out with friends in his free time. It seems, however, that Pratiik allows himself very little free time, as he has already begun studying for the MCAT and has plans to devote all of spring break and summer vacation to more studying. We wish Pratiik well on the test, which he will be taking at the end of August. Good luck, Pratiik!
