Jane Vick has been a volunteer at St. Andrew’s School for four years and says it’s an opportunity in which she gets as much as she gives.
As a Lunch Buddy, she’s been paired with the same students since they were in first grade and says it’s been so incredible to see them grow over the years.
“To see how much they’ve changed since first grade, along with all of the other children in their class, it’s so interesting,” she says. “I also think it’s interesting for them to have this kind of relationship; I’m the same age as their parents and teacher, but I get to have friends in fourth grade. I love their perspectives on life.”
Jane was introduced to St. Andrew’s School through a friend and says that growing up, she attended a small parochial school that had a great sense of community.
“I really enjoyed that aspect of school, and I feel like St. Andrew’s has a whole community here. It’s such a happy place. Here, people care so much about children, the teachers and front staff are so wonderful, and the kids are so happy,” she says. “I love to come here and feel the energy.”
