COVID-19 Updates

Safe and Supportive Environment

Our highest priority is the health and well-being of the St. Andrew’s School community, and we believe that a supportive environment is ultimately a healthy and secure environment. We also believe that we have an obligation to support the health of the broader community – from our own St. Andrew's School families to those around our state.

To foster this approach, we have oriented our procedures around developing the competency of our stakeholders and around creating community connections. In practice, this translates into clear, transparent communication of decisions, time to process and learn new procedures, and meaningful opportunities for reflection and growth.

Ambitious Instruction

We recognize that the optimal learning environment for children is one in which they learn from their teachers and fellow students in person. We also recognize the value of our campus's unique role in our students' education. To the best of our ability, and in accordance with official health guidelines, we will seek to provide ambitious instruction through a model of onsite instruction Monday through Friday and our continued commitment to rigorous and relevant programming ensuring that every student is engaged in robust whole child programming.

Flexibility & Adaptability

We recognize that any plan we design to respond to external health conditions must be flexible and able to adapt to circumstances beyond our control. Our overarching goal is to create a continuous learning structure that is durable enough to adapt to possible future coronavirus infections while still allowing us to focus on onsite learning yet have procedures in place in case distance learning instruction is necessary.

Involved Families

Families play a vital role in maintaining safety on campus. We are asking everyone in our St. Andrew’s community to commit to help keep our community safe and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

St. Andrew’s follows the most recent recommendations of the VA Department of Health (VDH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and policies are subject to change based upon this guidance.
